Environmental Impact Assessment
For qualifying developments, scheduled under the Town and Country Planning (EIA) Regulations, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) are required to support planning applications.
These scheduled development comprise most medium to large scale industrial or commercial installations. An EIA is also required where development is likely to have significant effects on the environment by virtue of type, size or location factors.
The Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) promotes environmentally sound and sustainable development and also plays a major role for planning authorities in assessing Environmental Statements submitted by developers. A number of statutory consultees (such as Natural England), also play an important part in assessing the Environmental Statement.
Jomas Associates can provide regulator liaison, management and reporting services using industry guidance as follows;
- EIA screening and planning authority discussions;
- EIA scoping of environmental issues;
- Developer advice sessions, stakeholder and regulator negotiation;
- Project management of consultant teams and document delivery;
- Baseline assessments for a wide range of disciplines;
- Production of environmental statements.
We can be as involved in the EIA process as required.
